Menopause Hormone Therapy
A smarter, modern approach to menopause.
Menopause is when a woman’s menstrual cycles permanently stop, usually in her 40s or 50s, as her ovaries produce significantly less hormones. Common symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and sleep problems can be severe and disruptive—but menopause can also cause many other long-term health problems, such as weaker bones, vaginal dryness, and increased risk of urinary infections.
Our understanding of safety and appropriate use of hormone therapy for menopause has changed substantially in recent years. Hormone therapy can profoundly affect the well-being of menopausal women, yet research and clinical updates show that very few medical providers have received training in modern MHT guidelines since these shifts occurred, and much of current evidence contradicts older teachings from medical school. As a result, millions of American women have been denied access to potentially life-changing treatment.

You have 2 options in this situation:
1. You may continue the 3 month program for prescription of non-hormonal treatment, at the same $400 price.
2. If you wish not to stay with the program for hormonal or non-hormonal menopause therapy, you will be charged only $100 for the consultation, and no further services will be rendered and no further charges assessed.

When you establish with us for the MHT program, you are establishing a temporary relationship with us that is specific to the specialty of menopause hormone therapy. (This is not a full primary care relationship.) If you are a candidate for MHT, we will provide hormone prescriptions and make required adjustments during the 3 month period.
At the end of the program, prescriptions for one year are provided and the relationship is discontinued. You are encouraged to return at that time to your primary care provider, who can continue your therapy.
-
We are happy to send a prescription to your local pharmacy where you can use your insurance if that applies.
Alternatively, your HDC provider will gladly prescribe your medications through CostPlus Drugs, an affordable online direct-mail-order cash pharmacy. After completing our program, you can continue your therapy and prescriptions through your primary care provider.

FIRST: Determine if the reason for your call is due to red flag symptoms. If you experience any of
the following red flag symptoms, don’t call us–immediately go to the Emergency Room (ER) or call 911:
• Sudden chest pain or shortness of breath
• Sudden vision changes or loss of vision
• Severe headache or dizziness
• Pain or swelling in the legs (especially if one-sided)
• Weakness, numbness, or difficulty speaking
• Severe abdominal or pelvic pain
• New breast lump or nipple discharge
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Unusual or heavy vaginal bleeding
SECOND: Determine if the reason for your call is related to MHT. If you just have general medical questions or your concern pertains to medical issues other than MHT, call your primary care provider-- the MHT program is strictly for menopause treatment.
THIRD: For all non-emergency MHT-related issues, for a period of 3 months, call the office at
785-467-3182 and speak with the nurse. Your MHT provider will be notified of your need for communication and will return your call.
